Step 1: Check the Web Version

If Outlook or Apple Mail isn't working, go directly to the website (gmail.com, yahoo.com, outlook.com) in your browser. If you can log in there, your password is fine—the app is the problem.

Step 2: Remove & Re-Add Account

If the app is broken, don't fight it. Go to Settings > Passwords/Accounts, delete the account from the device, and add it back fresh. This fixes 90% of sync errors.

Step 3: Check Storage Quota

Google and Microsoft share storage across Email, Drive, and Photos. If your Google Photos are full, you will stop receiving emails! Check your storage status.

Step 4: Look in Spam/Junk

Missing a password reset email? It is almost always in the Spam folder. If you find it there, mark it as "Not Spam" to train the filter.

The “Outbox” Trap

If you send an email and it vanishes, check the Outbox.

  • Sent: Means it left your device.
  • Outbox: Means it is STUCK on your device (usually because an attachment is too large).
  • Drafts: Means you never hit send.

If an email is stuck in the Outbox, delete it. A stuck email acts like a cork in a bottle, preventing all future emails from being sent too.

Phishing Attacks

Email is the #1 way hackers get into your life.

  • The Scam: An email says “Your Amazon account is locked” or “Receipt for $500”.
  • The Test: Look at the sender’s email address (e.g., support@amazon-security-update-22.com is FAKE).
  • The Rule: Never click links in emails. Go to Amazon.com manually and check your orders there.

Pro Tip: If you use Outlook/Hotmail, your password is the same as your Microsoft Account password. If you change one, you change the other!
